Who is this for?
Jiu Jitsu at Legion is built for practitioners who value technical detail and systematic progress over raw athleticism.
The Total Beginner
No martial arts background required. We break down the complexity of the Gi game into logical, manageable steps so you can start rolling with confidence from day one.
The Tactical Problem Solver
Ideal for those who enjoy the "human chess" aspect of grappling. Learn how to use systematic technical frameworks and mechanical leverage to neutralize larger, stronger opponents.
The Performance Athlete
For those looking to test their limits. Our technical environment provides the grit and detail necessary for those who want to reach a high level of functional mastery.
The Four Pillars
Your training and eventual grading are based on proficiency in these core phases of the Gi game.
The Guard
Mastering the art of fighting from the bottom, utilizing the Gi to sweep or submit opponents.
The Pass
Systematically dismantling an opponent's defense to secure dominant top positions.
The Transition
Winning the "scrambles" and flow between positions using technical leverage.
The Submission
High-percentage finishes (chokes and joint locks) utilizing the Gi for maximum control and efficiency.
The Senior Award Pathway
At Legion, a belt is a marker of time, technical knowledge, and mat-tested proficiency. To move to the next rank, you must complete the required training time and pass a formal Grading.
White Belt
Focus on survival, fundamental escapes, and basic guard structures.
Blue Belt
Mastery of fundamental control, positional escapes, and primary submission systems.
Purple Belt
Development of signature systems and advanced technical transitions.
Brown Belt
Elite-level chain attacking and strategic positional dominance.
Black Belt
Technical mastery and the ability to refine the art for others.
The Progression Standard
Mastery takes time. Each belt represents a deep commitment, achieved over a minimum of 1.5 to 2 years per rank, based on a consistent training frequency of twice per week.
